Senior System Administrator - Linux/Windows

 

Role & Responsibilities:

 

Company Corporation is seeking a Senior Systems Administrator to work in a scientific and high performance computing environment. As part of the IT Team, this individual will contribute to the planning, support, and administration of all of Company Corporation's global computing, LAN/WAN networking, and communications services. Responsibilities include: system configuration, file system maintenance and backup, account creation and security, creation of automation scripts to maintain uniformity of system configuration, maintenance of company information systems including web server, email server, SQL Server, DNS and NIS. Operating systems include Linux, Unix (Solaris, HP-UX, AIX), Microsoft Windows, and Mac OS X. The position involves close interaction with users to support their changing requirements and to answer their application and operation questions. Security, particularly with regard to customer data, is a key element of this position.

 

Company Corporation has a diverse and powerful computational environment including hundreds of high-end Linux-based servers, clusters and desktop workstations, as well as PCs running Windows, in locations around the world. The IT team at Company’s Burlington headquarters is responsible for coordinating IT operations in all the Company’s offices throughout the world, including management of VPNs linking all sites. Company also purchases extensive compute time on off-site servers and clusters. The IT team plays an active role in configuring and monitoring those systems. This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated System Administrator to develop and improve skills across a broad range of technologies.

 

Requirements:

 

· Bachelor Degree or equivalent experience.

· 6+ years of directly related experience.

· Red Hat Certified Engineer or equivalent experience

· Experience supporting both Windows and Linux

· SMTP, DNS, Apache, Samba, NFS, NIS, Antivirus, Antispam

· Ability to work successfully with all stakeholders across the organization.

· Strong independent problem-solving skills.

· Ability to understand customer concerns, take ownership and resolve concerns in a timely and effective manner.

· Ability and willingness to learn new technologies.

· Solid English verbal and written communication skills.

· US Citizen and eligibility for US Secret Clearance required.
