Position Purpose:
Provide leadership, delegate responsibility, build company teamwork, model accountability and manage all key safety activities through the company. Initiate and lead company safety policies and strategies.
Essential Functions:
- Ensure a safe workplace for all employees without risk to personal health
- Ensures company compliance with all OSHA, EPA, Fire and Police Department standards and policies
- Responsible for all communications with Federal and Cal OSHA regarding citations and compliance issues
- Leads and develops preventative measures against exposure to hazardous substances and danger from flammable, explosive and manual handling risks.
- Writes and oversees implementation of all required safety compliance plans such as but not limited to: IIPP, ERP, Respirator Program, etc.
- Audits facilities to maintain and enhance Health and Safety Compliance
- Effectively communicate safety priorities and accomplishments to senior management and Employees Develop, implement, and communicate a comprehensive safety policy
- Maintains proper and timely assessment of risks to health and safety, and implements measures to mitigate risks. Develops programs for and initiates a culture of change throughout the company
- Develops and delivers all necessary safety compliance training
- Develops incentive programs to create safety and health awareness
- Proactively meet with internal customers on a regular and systematic basis to solicit safety program and performance feedback
- Liaison as necessary with external organizations and relevant authorities, and provide leadership and cooperation concerning audits and remedial actions
- Manages vendor contracts for all outsourced safety measures
